The XML file you want is called part...Hi Eguintir,

The XML file you want is called partychat_ol.xml. (Note the _OL part at the end.) This GUI is the one that is used on the overland map. (Refer to the use of them in a map conversation. It simply makes reference to this GUI when setting up the conversation.)

This GUI is bigger by default, uses a larger pane for the portrait image and allows for multi-pc chat. (I edited the version I used to remove the multi-pc chat for what I needed.)

Contact me again if I have misunderstood what you need, or you are still having problems. Or if you managed to get it working. :)

Hi Chaos Wielder,

Glad you like the puzzle! :) Most of my work tends to be practical rather than much else. I don't really have the skill (or patience) to do more. Probably why my area designs suck. ;)

That said, I did find playing the puzzle fun. It's random (based on a DC setting), so even I get to play. :)

I would be happy to take a look at your work (prefabs). If you ever want to go "partner" in design (area work) with this project, I would be happy to do that as well. :)

Lance.Lance Botelle (Bard of Althéa)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16124192098553066324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-66461825543485376902010-04-19T03:13:13.028+01:002010-04-19T03:13:13.028+01:00partychat.xml does seem to be the file. I thought I had set the overall window to be wider and longer as well, as I added 100 to 200 to each width I found.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-15338334732828347472010-04-19T00:35:10.615+01:002010-04-19T00:35:10.615+01:00Area design is a semi-passion for me. So, actually, I have many areas just sitting on my harddrive and I ought to upload them...For you prefab users out there, it could be helpful. :)

Also, I love the UI. It's not snazzy, but the inclusion of the NWN "Eye" gives it a nice aesthetic feel. I have to say, I'm jealous. :p

@ EE
I believe the xml file is partychat_ol or partychat.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-67131366168972804822010-04-19T00:21:46.814+01:002010-04-19T00:21:46.814+01:00Hey I have a question about your custom text UI. I think I found the nwn1 style one (quickchat.xml or something) but I am going to be using soz chat style instead.Eguintir Eligardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12319335483254994121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-27038218840998059432010-04-18T19:12:33.679+01:002010-04-18T19:12:33.679+01:00Hi Anon (Eguintir),

It also has the added benefit of another kind of workaround and even a penalty option if incorrect. :)

I like puzzles. :)

Lance.Lance Botelle (Bard of Althéa)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16124192098553066324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-80740293621848198882010-04-18T15:44:12.509+01:002010-04-18T15:44:12.509+01:00The prefabs are nice. With some costumizing adding removing placeables, chaning lighting and adding sounds they can quickly become unique areas.

I like the puzzle gui they are a neat take. Mentioned that they will be logic test, but have you considered for a few having to find scrolls or hidden books or really any item that will have a passcode for a certain puzzle. I did see some others, but did not like them all ... or they were too specific or complex for my needs.

However, replacing textures is something I may be a little too uneasy about to try. ;)

Hi Kamal,

Actually, I did notice an area I was looking at (interior) did feature in your module when I was looking at it. :) So, I suppose I am definitely not alone in using them as everybody says.

Lance.Lance Botelle (Bard of Althéa)https://www.blogger.com/profile/16124192098553066324noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8776163819760508132.post-80592994706863813082010-04-17T17:26:12.655+01:002010-04-17T17:26:12.655+01:00Well, half my campaign is prefab. As someone who struggles with good area building, they are a godsend, and there's no way a project like the one I've been doing for the last 10 months would have been possible without them. But each area I speand at least an hour tweaking, playing with before using.

I think context is crucial for them not to feel too common - a player told they are entering an orcish stronghold and fighting orcs will experience the same area differently if suddently the lighting is darker, the sounds and music spookier, and its an abandoned fort filled with undead.

Besides, despite the amount of prefabs, they have actually seen very little use in the community modules - i think the 'overuse' factor is overstated.

I'm using that SGK prefab (and many of his others), but I can tell form your screenshot, that my lighting settings are quite different and evoke a different feel given the area plot and contents

The puzzle - looks great, nice touch. There's so much power and potential in the GUI modification for NWN2Wyrinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11584859518433388278noreply@blogger.com
